ATOM CHOREOGRAPHIC SERIES

This Sofia summer will be everything but boring! ATOM THEATRE and LiLi Jungin Lee will shake the city with the second edition of the platform for young choreographers and dancers -ATOM Choreographic Series # 2.

From June 27th to July 7th in Dance Station’s halls in Sofia, a team of Bulgarian and international choreographers will speed up the city’s pulse through dance. Professionals from South Korea, Bulgaria, Japan and Greece will have a 10-day training in contemporary dance and K-POP! And more – a program for VideoDance challenge will be held in parallel to the workshops and will show the City through the eyes of the artists! Series #2 will end with a dance performance which will be created by choreographers and participants during the training and will be presented to the audience on July 7, 2018.

Mentors and choreographers:

Lee Jung In (South Korea) – As a Korean dance artist based in Austria, Lee Jung In has collaborated with many choreographers and companies in Korea and across Europe; Presently, she is working with Redsapata – TanzFabrik, Linz, and ATOM THEATRE, Sofia as an associate artist and with Seoul International Choreography Festival as an International Executive committee member to propose new artistic vision in Globalization.

Stefaniya Georgieva (Bulgaria) – choreographer and performer; co-founder of ATOM THEATRE, her professional choreographic debut is in 2013. Since then, she has created 6 works that are presented in Bulgaria, Austria, Romania, Belgrade, Germany, Montenegro, Turkey, Macedonia, Greece.

Baek, JuMi (South Korea) – Artist with several awards for choreography, performer and lecturer. In 2017 JuMi and her choreography “I want, I need” was selected by the Seoul International Choreography Festival for awards and thus defended its place among the prestigious team of choreographers at ATOM Choreographic Series # 2.

Drosia Triantaki (Greece) – Born in the city of Thessaloniki in 1982, Drosia Triantaki graduated from Folkwang Universität Der Künste Pina Bausch and State School of Dance in Athens. Certified by M. Cunningham’s Dance Engineering Research. Founder and choreographer of Die Wolke Art Group.

Maiko Hasegawa and Mamoru Sakata (Japan) – Founders of the contemporary dance company Tarinof Dance Company, both of them are artists and choreographers with tremendous international experience and achievements. For the period 2013-2017, they held workshops in 7 countries and 35 cities.

Shin Na Yeon/ SHINNA (Korea) – Shinna is a dancer, choreographer and trainer in many Korean and international K-POP initiatives, including the K-Festival in Poland and USA in 2017. She has won many awards, the most important of which are Keep dancing vol.10, ZIPPO Hot-tour performance and more.

Iosif Astrukov and Petya Stoykova – (Bulgaria) VideoDance Workshop. Iosif Astrukov graduated in two different fields – “Medical Physics” at Sofia University and “Cinema and TV Directing” at The National Academy of Theatre and Film Art. Recently he has finished his PhD on “VideoDance” at the Institute of Art Studies in Sofia, Bulgaria. 

PROGRAM

CONTEMPORARY DANCE RESEARCH AND TRAINING ~

27.06 – 28.06.2018 – 5 open classes with all choreographers.
29.06 – 06.07.2018 – intensive group work. Each participant will be distributed to up to two choreographers, the selection will be performed by the choreographic team.
7.07.2018 – Presentation of the work of Series # 2 in front of the audience.

Two participants will win the SCHOLARSHIP* for the entire Series # 2. They will be selected based on their motivation for inclusion and quality of movement. (Priority will be given to participants based outside Sofia)
