Iosif Astrukov graduated in two different fields – “Medical Physics” at Sofia University and “Cinema and TV Directing” at The National Academy of Theatre and Film Art. Recently he has finished his PhD on “VideoDance” at the Institute of Art Studies in Sofia, Bulgaria. At the end of 2003, he published his first book of short stories called “Vacuum”. This was his first personal project. In 2004 he realized his first feature short film “A Look In The Eyes”. At the end of 2005, he presented his first exhibition called “Forms and Words”. That was an experimental project, combining two different kinds of art – Haiku and Photography. Shortly afterwards he finished his first documentary movie “We”. In 2006 he wrote and directed his second short feature movie “Praga 18”. During the next years, he accomplished many other projects – “Drifting thoughts…”, “A…”, “Water”, “Jam Session”, “Run Out Of You”, “Fight”, the exhibitions “DanCine project”, “Contemporary dance”, “Writings”. Along with his personal projects, he has been working as a director, photographer, cameraman and stage light designer for different companies and projects.
