Series#2 [ VideoDance Workshop ] is an intensive 7 days workshop for VideoDance, which will be part of the project ATOM Choreographic Series #2. The idea is the participants in the workshop to go through a structured learning process of creating a short dance film that could trigger a longer movie project in the future. The seminar will take place between 30/06 – 06/07/2018 at GENERATOR and will be led by a professional lecturer in the field, who will be the mentor of the participants during the whole process: conceptual formation, the concept of movement, shooting, and post-production. Shooting teams will be formed during the seminar – they will work together with the choreographers and dancers from ATOM Choreographic Series #2. The shooting will take place in the city of Sofia and each team will have the opportunity to choose its own shooting locations.
The aim of this workshop is to attract more young artists to this genre by challenging, supporting and focusing on the idea and intention behind the film, not on the technical aspects of its filming. We will go through the tory, design, architecture, point of views, body, and camera.

Mentors in the Series#2 [VideoDance Workshop] pilot will be Iosif Astrukov and Petya Stoykova. They have been worked together for a numerous videodance projects over the years and will lead all the participants in the process of creating a dance film.
Iosif has graduated in two different fields – “Medical Physics” at Sofia University and “Cinema and TV Directing” at The National Academy of Theatre and Film Art. Recently he has finished his PhD on “VideoDance” at the Institute of Art Studies in Sofia, Bulgaria. At the end of 2003, he published his first book of short stories called “Vacuum”. This was his first personal project. In 2004 he realized his first feature short film “A Look In The Eyes”. At the end of 2005, he presented his first exhibition called “Forms and Words”. That was an experimental project, combining two different kinds of art – Haiku and Photography. Shortly afterwards he finished his first documentary movie “We”. In 2006 he wrote and directed his second short feature movie “Praga 18”. During the next years, he accomplished many other projects – “Drifting thoughts…”, “A…”, “Water”, “Jam Session”, “Run Out Of You”, “Fight”, the exhibitions “DanCine project”, “Contemporary dance”, “Writings”. Along with his personal projects, he has been working as a director, photographer, cameraman and stage light designer for different companies and projects.
Petya Stoykova is the founder and a choreographer at Dune Dance Company. The company has nearly 30 years of history. In addition to creation of over 15 author performances, Dune have also realized numerous projects for the development of the Bulgarian contemporary dance as “Dance BG” Association. She teaches contemporary dance in Burgas and is a guest-teacher in international dance projects in Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine. Senegal, Kenya. She took her dance education at New Bulgarian University and was a scholar of international dance programs around the world – Dance web, Balkan dance platform and others. He is a UNESCO student for an artistic residence in Senegal, Ixkizit, France, and a Balkan Dance Platform, Romania. She was awarded the Choreography Award “Margarita Arnaudova” 1999 and received numerous international awards for the achievements of Dune Dance School. Together with Iosif Astrukov they have created author dance movies, two of which are presented in the accompanying program of the Golden Rose festival in 2017. Their artistic cooperation starts with 2004 Summer Jam – international dance camp projects. and “Video and Dance lab” in 2006.
The workshop will take place in the cozy and inspiring space – GENERATOR in which the participants will have desks, Internet, and a brainstorming environment.
Generator is both a concept and a physical space. The concept behind Generator is about using design to generate ideas, experiments, solutions and experiences that provoke innovation and add value to our life and society.
